Both the eb150 and eb240 are made to be durable, portable power stations that keep the lights on wherever you are. In this article, we put the two battery packs head-to-head to see which one comes out on top.

The capacity of a generator is the measurement of the amount of power it can hold at 100% charge. Battery capacity is measured in Watt-hours (Wh). To calculate how long a battery can run an appliance, divide the capacity of the battery by the wattage of the device.
The Bluetti eb240 has an impressive 2,400Wh capacity. This is significantly higher than most portable generators, which tend to average between 800-1,500Wh capacity.
With 2,400Wh of stored power, the Bluetti eb240 can power most appliances for a decent amount of time. A full-sized refrigerator typically draws around 150W, which the eb240 can run for over 16 hours on a full charge.
The eb150’s capacity is lower than its younger brother’s, but it’s far from small. 1,500Wh capacity is still on the high end for most portable generators. The same 150W fridge from the previous example could be powered for 10 hours.
Both the Bluetti eb150 and eb240 have good capacity compared to other portable generators on the market. But when comparing the two battery packs directly against each other, the eb240 is the clear winner, with 900Wh more stored energy.
Having a battery with high capacity is great, but how long it takes to fully charge that battery is just as important. It’s no use having a generator with thousands of watt-hours of storage if it takes days to charge.
Both the eb150 and eb240 can be charged by plugging them into a wall outlet or through solar panels.

Both generators have 1,000W inverters, which determine the maximum power draw of the battery when charging. Plugged into a wall socket, the eb150 takes just over 9 hours to charge fully from 0%.
The Bluetti eb240 takes an hour longer to charge, but the increased capacity makes up for the slow charge time.
Neither of these generators charges particularly quickly. Other batteries on the market can charge a similar-sized battery in half that time. However, if we’re comparing the two batteries against each other, the Bluetti eb240 once again comes out on top.
Finding a portable generator with plenty of power outlets can be the difference between a serviceable generator and a great one. These generators can power multiple devices at once, the only limiting factor is the number of outlets you have access to.
The Bluetti eb240 has a decent selection of power outlets. The 2 110V AC power outlets can power large appliances like TVs and microwaves. There are a further 5 USB ports; 4 standard USB and 1 USB-C for charging cell phones and tablets.
On top of the standard power outlets, the eb240 also has a 12V DC car outlet that can be used to charge laptops and other small electronics.
The eb150 is similar to the eb240 in terms of the number and types of power outlets available. Like the eb240, it has 2 110V, 1000W AC power outlets. There are 4 standard USB outlets but it doesn’t have any USB-C options.
Unfortunately, it doesn’t have a 12V DC car outlet. This is a mark against the eb150, as being able to charge the battery in the car is a great selling point that it’s missing out on.
The Bluetti eb150 and eb240 have an alright selection of outlets, but you’ll very quickly find yourself running out of space. Of the two, the eb240 is again the winner in this category.
Bluetti EB150 or EB240
Both the eb150 and the eb240 are marketed as being power stations for people on the move. This section will briefly review the Bluetti eb150 and eb240 to see who the product works best for and how they stack up against each other.
The Bluetti (pronounced Blue-Tea) eb150 was released by Max Oak in 2019. The portable power station was met with rave reviews from all corners of the internet and is still widely used today despite its age.
The generator has a sleek design. It’s built to be sturdy and durable, most components are made of stainless steel with some plastic parts to keep the pack lightweight.
The eb150 has a highly advanced MPPT charge controller that regulates the power that it can draw from solar panels. The charge controller increases the voltage of photovoltaic cells, increasing the input to 500W.
This means you can fully charge the battery in just over 3 hours in ideal weather conditions.
The eb150 also has high-temperature tolerance for both extreme heat and cold. This increases the lifespan of the battery, giving the eb150 more than 2,500 charge cycles.
The eb150 is a great choice for those into the vanlife and digital nomad lifestyle. Its slightly limited capacity means it can’t power everything in your house, but it’s more than enough to keep the lights on for a weekend away.

Bigger and bulkier than its older brother, the eb240 was released in 2020 and garnered similar levels of attention and admiration from green energy enthusiasts.
Like the eb150, the eb240 comes with solar charge controllers. Customers get the choice between PWR and MPPT charge controllers. Giving customers choice is normally a good thing, but PWR controllers are older and much less efficient.
The eb240 has pass-thru charging technology, allowing users to power appliances with the generator while charging. This is a useful option in a pinch, but it can cause overheating and is detrimental to the longevity of the battery.
Because of the high-temperature tolerance of the generator, it has a lifespan of 2,500 full charge cycles. With heavy use, this will take around 7 years.
The generator’s inverter is one area where the eb240 runs into significant trouble. Rated at 1,000W, the generator can power most appliances, but it falls short with energy-heavy devices like washing machines and ovens.
A battery of this size should be able to run these kinds of appliances for an hour or two because of its large capacity. But anything over 1,000W will cause the device to trip, limiting its versatility.
