By Benjamin Strusnik January 14, 2022

Zendure Superbase 2000 Review

Having to refill your fuel for that gas-powered generator can be a hassle and will cost you a fortune in the long run. The Zendure SuperBase 2000 is a solar power station that aims to make your transition into the solar-powered scene a smooth one.

In this review, we will cover all the ins and outs of the Zendure SuperBase 2000 and why you should own one of these solar power stations.

Zendure Superbase 2000 (Our Review)

Who Are Zendure?

Zendure is a Californian company that was founded in the sunny Silicon Valley in 2013. Their employees consist of eager campers and adventurers looking to empower mobile living.

Zendure’s products sell worldwide and have branches in countries like China, ensuring that their products reach a global audience.

Their goal is to make use of renewable energy such as solar and wind power to fuel the nation in the greenest and cleanest way possible.

They believe that the shift away from your traditional fossil fuel cars to electric cars can be mimicked when focusing on gas-powered generators to mobile solar power stations.

They know the terrible effects burning fossil fuels has on the environment and how the continued usage of these fuels can aggravate the process of global warming.

Making use of the sun’s natural energy means you won’t have to worry about greenhouse gases, and it will prevent you from breaking the bank due to constantly refilling your fuel.

With the Zendure SuperBase 2000 Pro Portable Solar Power Station, Zendure makes use of its ambitions by harnessing the sun’s energy to power up your devices and appliances.

Before we can talk about what makes the SuperBase so solid, it’s important to understand why opting for a solar power station is more beneficial than using your standard gas generators.

Solar Powered Generators vs Gas Generators

We already established that using solar energy is better for the environment and the induvial compared to using gas generators. The same logic applies to solar generators being better than gas generators.

For starters, the noise. Gas generators tend to be loud and distracting due to the diesel or fuel moving the mechanical parts within the generator.

Since solar power stations rely on lithium-ion batteries that are powered using solar panels or an AC wall outlet, no mechanical sounds are coming from the generator.

Since the parts within a solar power station don’t move, that makes maintenance and problem solving much easier.

Secondly, because solar-powered generators harness the sun's natural energy using solar panels, it removes the issue of greenhouse gases.

This makes the environment around you safer to breathe in and prevents air pollution.

Lastly, if you run out of gas, you need to purchase more. This can be a problem when out on a road trip or in the wild.

Since the sun is free of charge and always shining, you will never run out of energy, and you won’t need to spend additional cash on getting a refill.

Now that we’ve discussed the benefits of choosing a solar-powered generator over a fuel-powered one, let’s look at what makes the Zendure SuperBase 2000 such a masterpiece.

About the Product

The Zendure SuperBase 2000 is rated at 1,500 cycles, meaning you have 4 years of daily charging cycles which should give you plenty of use for years to come.

It has a 2,000W pure sine inverter coupled with a 4,000W surge protector. This technology provides a clean and safe solution to powering smaller devices through AC outputs.

Thus, allowing for faster charging to those devices and preventing them from frying.

One of the most intriguing features of the SuperBase 2000 is that it has an uninterruptable power supply feature.

This means there’s a built-in UPS relay that will automatically switch loads between grid and battery power should the power in your house or RV go out.

It’s equipped with lithium nickel manganese cobalt oxide batteries which sounds like a lot to take in, but to make it simpler, these batteries are used in most electric vehicles.

The Zendure SuperBase 2000 is wifi and 4G LTE ready, allowing you to alter voltage settings or view battery statistics using the accompanying mobile application.

Wifi technology is becoming more commonplace on these kinds of generators, and can also be found on the Bluetti EP500.

This isn’t mandatory but the inclusion allows you to receive push notifications about the statistics on your generator, meaning you will always know when the generator needs to be charged.

Should you worry about the SuperBase 2000 overheating with all your appliances plugged into it, there’s no need to worry. This solar power station has a total of 4 smart fans that automatically kick in when the temperature rises drastically.

In other words, your generator will always remain cool, and overheating is very uncommon.

Design and Ports

The Zendure SuperBase 2000 weighs in at around 48Llbs and is made entirely from AVS plastic. It’s coated in sleek silver with some black finishes giving it a clean aesthetic. It weighs about as much as the Bluetti AC300, making it just as good for portable power.

To make carrying the solar power station easier, Zendure has equipped the SuperBase 2000 with a handle resembling that of a briefcase.

Also found at the bottom of the generator are plastic wheels which make rolling the generator as if it were luggage easy and maneuverable.

At the front of the generator is a 6 inch colored LCD that makes viewing the readings an easy task, even when faced under a bright light. On this screen, you will find useful information such as the battery statistics as well as the total voltage output.

The battery life is shown using a percentage paired with a doughnut chart giving it a friendly user interface.

The side of the Zendure SuperBase 2000 sports 6 20A outlets and has a unique feature Zendure calls AmpUp. This allows you to power devices upwards of 3,000W by dropping the output voltage. This will allow for maximum usage and powering of multiple devices.

There is a total of 4 12V outputs. There are 3 located on the front of the generator and there’s a single 12V cigarette lighter accessory output on the side. This is the same layout as what we saw with the Bluetti AC200 Max.

Each of these ports is regulated at around 14V and they all share a 10A circuit.

A welcomed feature we appreciate is the inclusion of 4 USB type-C ports, 2 of which are 100W, whilst the other two are 20W.

Most technologies these days are swaying towards USB type C charging so having 4 ports readily available to charge those devices is great.

These ports can also be converted into your standard USB ports by making use of an adapter.

Making Use of Solar Energy

Zendure offers a case with instructions on how to charge and use the SuperBase 2000. You can charge the SuperBase using a standard AC wall outlet

This bad boy can charge from maximum solar upwards to 2,400W using both provided solar cords. The first cord can be hooked up to a 1,800W solar panel whilst the other supports a 600W solar panel.

Using both cords and maximizing the solar usage will fully charge the SuperBase 2000 in about an hour.

You also have the option to daisy chain your solar panels, allowing you to hook the SuperBase 2000 up to many solar arrays.

Choosing to charge the SuperBase 2000 with solar panels will get the job done at a faster rate than using your standard AC wall outlet.

However, the option is still there should you not have access to any solar panels.

Because you can daisy-chain the generator, the Superbase can compete with the Bluetti AC200P’s charge time.

Who Is It For?

The Zendure SuperBase 2000 with its beefy 2000W capacity will be best for those who enjoy long road trips in their RVs or those who simply enjoy being out in the wild.

Having this solar power station along with some portable solar panels will ensure that you are never left in the dark.

It’s not only suitable for outdoorsy adventurers as this will act as a good substitute for any gas generators you may have at home. The inclusion of UPS technology makes it a great way to keep the lights on during blackouts or natural disasters like hurricanes.

If you are someone who likes the idea of integrating the mobile application with the generator’s settings, then the application is feature-filled with many settings and accurate statistics.

Conclusion

The Zendure Superbase 2000 is a beast, an environmentally safe one too.

It’s a solar power station that can keep your devices charged and ready to use under any condition. It’s also extremely quiet when powering your devices meaning you can get some peaceful shuteye and wake up to fully charged devices.

The SuperBase 2000 is priced at around $2000, and whether you are charging a smartphone or powering a deep freezer, this product will give you a good bang for your buck.
