EcoFlow Delta Max (Our Review)

If you’ve been following our blog, you know here at Shop Solar Kits, we love EcoFlow products. Their DIY solar panel kits and solar generators are reliable, efficient, and often look stylish too.

So, it comes as no surprise that the EcoFlow Delta Max ticks all of our boxes.

It’s a small power box, only around 19.6 x 9.25 x 12 inches, which is the same size as the EcoFlow Delta Pro. Yet, it can effortlessly power big appliances, power tools, and most of your modern camping equipment.

Since it’s so tiny, it also weighs only 47.6 lbs. This convenient weight makes it an excellent choice as a portable power supply.

Power Output

The EcoFlow Delta Max comes with X-Boost Technology. X-Boost Technology enables this tiny power station to power devices up to 3,400W, making it a powerful alternative to the EcoFlow Delta 1300.

We find that 3,400W is more than enough to power around 99% of appliances. This capability makes it an ideal backup solution should there be a power outage or natural disaster.

Connecting a variety of appliances to the Delta Max is pretty straightforward. There are 6 AC outlets, more than enough to keep multiple devices running during an emergency.

The 6 outlets are also pure sine wave outlets. The pure sine wave is significant because, unlike other electricity types, it won’t damage your sensitive equipment.

For instance, devices such as CPAP machines are sensitive, and manufacturers often recommend using only pure sine wave power to run these devices.

We also find that most phones, cameras, and other outdoor gear can be powered and charged up via a range of easily accessible USB ports.

The Delta Max boasts 2x ASB-A ports and 2x USB-A Fast Charge ports. The fast charge ports are perfect for quickly getting your critical electronics charged up and ready to go.

There’s also a single car power output and 2x DC5521 ports, which you can use to power various DC appliances.

With this variety of outlets and ports, it is no surprise that this power station is a favorite among outdoor enthusiasts who want to keep a few items charged at camp.

The Delta Max doesn’t only offer excellent power output. It’s pretty easy to charge it back up too.

Charging Capability

How do you charge an EcoFlow Delta? It’s easy.

In true EcoFlow pedigree, the Delta Max comes with lightning-fast charging speeds. In fact, EcoFlow boasts that the Delta Max can charge up to 80%, from 0% in only 65 minutes!

The EcoFlow Delta Max requires only around 1.8 hours to charge fully. This incredible charging speed is roughly twice as fast as competing products.

The secret behind this fast charging speed is EcoFlow’s X-Stream charging technology. This technology isn’t just fast. It’s perfectly safe too.

A built-in battery management system ensures that the batteries charge safely, avoiding any nasty overloads that can potentially damage your equipment.

It also works to ensure the battery’s longevity when you decide to charge the Delta Max via a standard AC wall outlet.

The software will protect your batteries and help you get the best possible lifespan out of them.

You don’t have to charge the Delta Max up via an AC outlet. All EcoFlow products are relatively compatible with one another.

So, you could easily add several EcoFlow Delta compatible portable solar panels to create a genuinely off-the-grid power solution. The manufacturer, EcoFlow, says that their MPPT algorithm will continuously optimize solar charging.

This MPPT algorithm will constantly take readings of voltage and current in real-time. It uses these readings to adjust solar charging for the most efficient charging sequence.

If you want to lower the charging times or extend the power output, the Delta Max has a pleasant surprise in store for you.

Compatibility And Expandability

As a stand-alone unit, fresh out of the box, the EcoFlow Delta Max has around 2,016Wh capacity.

This capacity is enough to power about 4x lights, an internet router, a fan, a laptop, a standard fridge, and even charge several smartphones for 12 hours.

If you want to extend this capacity, you can effortlessly connect two Delta Max Smart Extra batteries. With these batteries, you can expand the capacity to around 6, 048Wh.

When you expand the capacity like this, you can power all of those devices, not 12 hours, but rather 36 hours before needing to recharge again.

The vast number of other EcoFlow products and some third-party products compatible with the Delta Max makes it quick and easy to build a truly impressive eco-friendly power supply.

Since everything is modular, you can slowly build up your power system as your ambition and budget allow.

This expandability and compatibility make the EcoFlow Delta Max power station an excellent value for money product.
