I did a lot of research before diving into the solar game. The final push came when local rates were going to go up. I purchased a complete DIY kit from ShopSolar.com. I chose to do my own ground mount and trenched in conduit for the PV wiring. Since I had no previous solar experience, but I am a retired telecom guy, I relied on EJ for the technical pieces I was missing. Fast forward to May 23rd 2026 and we are up and running off grid!!! Everything worked perfectly. I worked with EJ to fine tune a few little things. I'm now planning on adding an EG4 6000xp to run my detached shop/garage. I'm looking forward to no electric bill!

I am still working on the infrastucture for my system and at 76 yrs old it is not exactly easy or fast. The ditch digging to bury my conduit is the hardest.
