Does it support Auto-Start generators?

Yes. The Pro system is "Auto-Start Ready" for any generator supporting 2-wire start logic.

Can the Select Pro export power to the grid?

Yes. The Select Pro is a Grid-Tied Hybrid Inverter, meaning it can sell excess solar power back to your utility provider where local regulations allow.

Can the generator automatically start?

Yes, with the addition of the EG4 GridBoss. Your generator must support 2-wire auto-start.

What is the off-grid power limit?

When operating in pure off-grid mode (without grid or generator assist), the inverter output is limited to 12,000W continuous power.

Can I mix and match batteries down the road?

We do not recommend mixing different battery chemistries (e.g., Lead Acid with Lithium). For the best performance and "Closed-Loop" communication, we strongly suggest using EG4 Lithium batteries of the same model and capacity.

Can the generator automatically start for a "hands-off" experience?

Yes, but it requires the EG4 GridBoss and a generator that supports 2-wire auto-start functionality.

How do I tie this into my home electrical panel?

There are two primary installation methods:

1. Whole-Home Backup: If your main panel is rated at 90A or less, the inverter can sit between your meter and the main panel to back up the entire home.

2.Critical Loads Sub-Panel: If your main panel is larger than 90A, you should install a sub-panel for priority loads (Fridge, Lights, Well Pump) to stay within the inverter's 90A passthrough limit.

What size generator is needed to recharge the system?

The Select Plus supports up to a 90A Grid Passthrough. We recommend a generator rated at 18,000W (240Vac) to simultaneously power your home loads and charge the batteries. If you are ONLY recharging the batteries, you can use a smaller generator. Note: This inverter uses the Grid Input for the generator. For a dedicated, simultaneous generator input, we recommend adding the EG4 GridBoss.
