Patriot Power Cell Reviews: The TRUTH - What People Are Saying
If you're shopping for a portable source for emergency power back up, camping or to survive a potential grid outage, you've may have heard of the brand 4Patriots. The company has come up with a convenient, pocket-sized battery that can recharge your smart device anywhere in the world.
Here at ShopSolarKits.com, we love staying up to date on the latest technology in the solar realm. Because of this we decided to look at real 4 Patriot Power Cell reviews.
We wanted to see how everyone else’s experience with the Patriot Power Cell has been in order to get a real world understanding of the quality and usefulness of the patriot power cell. This article looks at some of the patriot power cell reviews from real customers that we found all over the internet. In doing so, we hope to highlight some of the patriot power cells main pros and cons before exploring a few alternatives.
Patriot Power Cell Website Reviews
In order to get the best deal on your Power Cell, you probably want to head straight to the source. The reviews I found on 4Patriots website for the Power Cell were overwhelmingly positive. With that said, the company probably has control of what is being displayed on their site, so the distribution of favorable reviews should be taken with a grain of salt.
Above, you will see a type of review that is quite common on the Power Cell’s Product Page. Many customers seemed so happy with the device that they bought several for each member of their family.
Patriot Power Cell Amazon Reviews
Once I headed over to Amazon, however, the reviews suddenly became noticeably less enthusiastic. With an average review score of 3.7 out of five stars, here are a few handpicked reviews of some of the product’s features.
As you can see, there are quite a few people who were left disappointed with the Power Cell’s performance. Each of these low star reviews cite the inefficient solar charging as one of the primary reasons they were not satisfied with the device.
Here, I have to agree. A 40-hour solar charging time is simply not fast enough for any real-world use. Sure, it can technically charge itself, but after a week of waiting, you may have even forgotten about it entirely.
The final review listed above also mentions the Patriot’s short shelf life. In the event of an emergency, the last thing that you will want to think is, “Wait, did I remember to charge my Power Cell this month?” Instead, there are many better solar chargers with extended battery lives. One other option to consider, is the Lit Power Bank, which you can learn more about here.
Patriot Power Cell Video Reviews
On YouTube, some product reviewers were also feeling mislead by the Patriot Power Cell’s ability to provide reliable, solar electricity. In this full review from Youtuber Nomadik Empyr, the customer displays his real life experience with the device. In the video, the reviewer claims his Power Cell has been sitting on the dashboard of his van for four days and the battery still only has a very small, partial charge.
Furthermore, there are a few videos of people who have made it a point to say how disappointed they are with the 4Patriots company as a whole. In this video from Tim Domenico, Tim questions the legitimacy of anything 4Patriots has to offer. He cites incorrect information on the site being misleading to customers and even reaches the conclusion that legal action should be taken against the company. Personally, seeing someone so outraged makes it hard for me to trust any of the company’s products.
With all of this in mind, the Patriot Power Cell still functions pretty well as a portable power source. This review from youtuber Tcarp, lets us know that once you get over the fact that the solar panels are essentially useless, the Power Cell is actually a good device. The review shows, as seen in the screenshot above, a real time demonstration of how to use the Patriot Power Cell. In a pinch, the Power Cell works great to charge an iPhone, but not much else.
Top 2 Alternatives to the Patriot Power Cell !
If you, like many people, are unsatisfied with your Patriot Power Cell, then there are many alternatives that you can explore. Truthfully, $40 is not the end of the world, but in the case of an emergency you will want to make sure you have a high quality source of backup power. Below, we will outline two of our favorite options that can be considered upgrades to the Patriot Power Cell.
One of the most popular alternatives to the Patriot Power Cell, is the Lion Cub Go Solo Kit. The Lion Cub Go is a bit different than the Patriot Power Cell in that the solar panels are not built right in. With that said, it is also different because the solar charging actually works. That’s right, the Lion Cub Go can fully charge with a 20W (very small) solar panel in just three to six hours.
In addition to the mini solar panel charging, the Lion Cub GO can also be recharged via a regular wall outlet. Once it is full, the variety of power options is way beyond that of the Patriot.
The tiny little 3 pound Lion Cub Go actually has an AC outlet (it's the smallest portable power source WITH a standard wall plug). Plus it has a 12V DC plug-in, and 2 USB ports built right into the system.
The Lion Cub Go battery also has an output rating of 150W, which means that you can actually power a small fridge with this thing!
If you are after a small, portable solar bank to charge a couple of cell phones, then we highly suggest the Blavor Qi Solar Power Bank. Like the Patriot Power Cell, this device can fit in your pocket and is designed to be both lightweight and durable.
Unfortunately, it also has a very low-powered solar panel and takes days on end to recharge. However, functionally, the Qi Solar Power Bank does everything that the Patriot Power Cell does, but slightly better. The Qi comes with a built in flashlight, larger battery capacity, durable body, and a compass. To learn more, you can see the Blavor Qi’s current price on Amazon.
In the event of an emergency, the Lion Cub Go Solo Kit is by far the best option!

The most popular and best patriot power generator alternative is by far the EcoFlow Delta 1800 Solar Generator Quad kit with 4 x 100 watt solar panels.
The Delta solar generator has twice as much battery capacity, same size inverter with a bigger surge and comes in 15lbs lighter and charges up twice as quick!
