Inergy Kodiak Solar Generator: Complete Review & Update [2020]

Inergy Kodiak Solar Generator

If you're wondering why everywhere you look the Inergy Kodiak Solar Generator is either sold out or unavailable, that's because it actually no longer exists. When the Inergy Kodiak Solar Generator launched in mid 2015 it absolutely revolutionized the solar generator industry.

The good news is, the Inergy Kodiak solar generator was actually upgraded in early 2019 to the new and improved Inergy Apex Solar Generator which is even better (and costs) less than the original Inergy Kodiak Solar Generator.

We created this article to explain why the Inergy Kodiak Solar Generator was revamped and changed to the Inergy Apex as well as go into detail on what we think about the new unit.

What is the Inergy Kodiak Solar Generator?

The Inergy Kodiak Solar Generator weighed in at 20 lbs which at the time was about half that of the competition. What made it so great was that you could not only charge it from solar panels, a wall charger and a car charger but it charged up extremely quickly (7-8 hours) from solar panels.  The 1,100 watt hour lithium ion battery was the biggest improvement as this meant it lasted 4 x longer than any other solar generator on the market.

The Inergy Kodiak Solar Generator was a beast!  To give you a rough idea, the closest competitor on the market weighed more than double as much at 43.7 lbs!

Why Did Inergy Upgrade the Inergy Kodiak Solar Generator to the Inergy Apex?

Although Inergy rose to popularity with their original portable solar generator, the Kodiak.  They wanted to keep innovating and listening to customer feedback.  So with that, they decided to take all that was great about the Kodiak and upgrade it So, at the end of 2018 after they sold out of the original Kodiak they announced the launch of the new and improved Inergy Apex Solar Generator. We began pre-selling the Apex in January 2019 and the response was amazing!

Inergy's initial pre-sale for the the APEX sold out in a little over a month.  Thanks to the amazing customer response Inergy completed a second round of pre-sales in June 2019.

What is the Inergy Apex Solar Generator?

The Inergy Apex solar power station is an even bigger beast! The Apex is the most compact, light weight, and easy-to-use plug-and-play source of renewable, portable power in the world.

It features an advanced maximum power point tracking (MPPT) charge controller, so it charges faster and safer (One of the main upgrades). The Apex’s internal battery also lasts up to four times longer than any comparable product on the market.

The Apex packs a huge punch with a peak 1,500 Watt pure sine wave inverter and 1,100 Watt hours of peak battery capacity, so it can power dozens of devices and appliances wherever you need it. Best of all, under normal conditions, the Apex is nearly silent and is 100% odor and fume-free—no pollutants or toxic exhaust of noisy gas generators.

What can it power?

  • Smartphones (5-7 watts): 100+ hours
  • Tablets (25-40 watts): 40+ hours
