WARNING: Top 3 Patriot Power Generator Alternatives

By SSK Admin November 20, 2021

WARNING Top 3 Patriot Power Generator Alternatives

If you're looking for a solar-powered generator as a source of emergency backup power, you might have heard about the Patriot Power Generator.

The Patriot Power Generator 1500 was released in late 2014 by 4Patriots, an American company based out of Nashville, TN. 4Patriots also sells survival foods, water filtration devices systems, and pocket constitutions on top of its Patriot Power Generator. It has since launched a newer version of the 1500 called the Patriot Power Generator 1800.

Just Want To Know What The BEST Patriot Power Generator Alternative is?

The most popular and best Patriot Power Generator alternative is, by far, the EcoFlow Delta 1800 Solar Generator Quad kit with 4 x 100-watt solar panels.

The Delta solar generator has twice as much battery capacity, same size inverter with a bigger surge, comes in 15 lbs lighter, and charges twice as fast!

Check out the comparison chart of the two solar generators below, and you'll quickly see why the EcoFlow Delta 1800 is the clear frontrunner:

The Story Behind the Patriot Power Generator 1500 & 1800

Despite selling over 2,000 units, the Patriot Power Generator 1500 was only available on the 4Patriots website from November 2014 until April 2015. The device was recalled in July 2016, which left many people wondering, “What happened to the Patriot Power Generator 1500?”

What Caused the Patriot Power 1500 Recall?

According to the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), the Patriot Power 1500 was recalled “Due to Fire Hazard.” Yes, that’s right, 4Patriots reportedly decided to discontinue importing the Chinese manufactured Patriot Power 1500 after 13 consumer accounts of the device catching on fire.

The CPSC stated that the Patriot Generators began to smoke after the batteries within the devices caught on fire. This malfunction also caused an atypical and potentially harmful odor from the Patriot Power Generator. Thankfully, there were no reported injuries or serious incidents caused by device failure.

The Next Patriot Power Solar Generator 1800

After the recall of the Patriot Power 1500, 4Patriots hoped to clear its name with a newer, better solar generator.  What did they come up with? The Patriot Power Generator 1800. The company’s new release added a larger inverter and longer battery life to the 4Patriot Power brand. It sells for around $2,500. Luckily, so far, no units have been reported to have caught on fire.

Whereas the 4Patriots 1800 model is a fully capable clean energy machine, it is not perfect and also a bit expensive. To learn more, you can read our full review for the Patriot Power Generator 1800 here.

Best Patriot Power Solar Generator Alternative Options

Of course, there are many other great solar generators on the market aside from 4Patriots Power Generator. In fact, at a similar (or even lower) price point, you can purchase a better solar power generator more suited toward meeting your electricity needs in the case of an emergency.

Below, we outlined our top four alternatives for the Patriot Power Generator. These are also four of our best-selling solar generators, each of which is a clear-cut upgrade to the Patriot Power Generator 1800.

1. EcoFlow Delta 1800W / 1300wH Solar Generator [Quad Kit]

If you do not want to sacrifice any of the premium features of the Patriot Power 1800, but want to save about $800, then you should consider the EcoFlow Delta 1800 / 1300. Do not let the name confuse you. The 1300 in the Delta’s name refers to its battery’s watt-hour capacity (which is roughly twice as large as the Patriot). The Delta is rated at the same 1800W of continuous output capacity on the inverter. So, you get double the battery size and the same inverter size for much less than the Patriot Power Generator.

In addition to saving a lot of money, the Delta can save you a lot of time. The EcoFlow system has the fastest AC (wall plug) charging system to date, filling the battery to capacity in less than two hours (0% to 80% in 60 minutes!). Plus, unlike the Patriot, the EcoFlow Delta solar generator comes with DC (vehicle cigarette lighter) input capabilities for charging your system on the go.

With the quad kit, you get everything you need to get started, including four 100W rigid solar panels, cables, connectors, a carrying case, and a two-year manufacturer's warranty.

2. Bluetti AC200P [Quad Kit]

The Bluetti AC200P quad kit is roughly the same price as the Patriot Power Generator, but it outshines it in many ways. The 2000Wh battery is more than twice the capacity of the Patriot, and it has an impressive 3500+ charging cycles (1000 more than the Patriot). Plus, the AC200P can handle 700W of solar input, blowing the Patriot's 240W out of the water.

One of the things that the AC200P is known for is its power. With an output of 2000W and a 4,800W surge, you can run multiple fridges and an air conditioning unit - all at the same time. It's powerful enough to power just about any appliance in your home and can charge as many as 17 devices at once.

The quad kit includes everything you need, and setup takes less than an hour. It costs roughly the same as the Patriot 1800, but you get so much more, including four 12V solar panels, branch connectors, extension cables, an AC wall charger, solar charging cable, and car charging cable, not to mention a free maintenance guide and a two-year warranty.

3. MaxOak Bluetti EB240 Solar Generator [Quad Kit]

A long-lasting lifecycle is the primary reason that most people gravitate towards the Patriot Power Generator. The Bluetti is a strong competitor, with 2,500 lifecycles, which is a ton of remote electricity potential (almost seven years using it every day)!

Although the Bluetti EB240 from MaxOak is rated for the same amount of lifecycles, it comes with a ton of great upgrades over the Patriot Power Generator. With 2,400 watt-hours of battery storage compared to the 790 of the Patriot Power Generator, it's almost unbelievable that the Bluetti EB240 quad kit - which comes with everything you need to set it up - only costs $2,109 compared to $2400+ for the Patriot Power Generator.

On top of that, they weigh almost the same amount, but the Bluetti can handle 500 watts of solar input compared to less than 300 watts on the Patriot Power Generator.

The Bluetti does have a smaller inverter output capacity, but its 1,000W inverter is still plenty to power everything from a fridge and tv to lights and even a small air conditioner. Considering the Bluetti’s battery is nearly four times as large as the Patriot Power Generator and you can charge it over twice as fast as the Patriot Power cell, it's a no-brainer to consider the Bluetti EB240 solar generator as a potential alternative to the Patriot Power Generator.

4. Lion Safari ME [GOLD] Kit

We'll be upfront and say that, at $3,995, the Lion Safari ME [GOLD] Kit costs a bit more than the Patriot. But that's because it just blows it out of the water. The Lion Safari ME has 2000W of continuous output and a 4000W peak (compared to 3048W for the Patriot). It can handle high-wattage appliances in-home or on-the-go, making it perfect for off-grid living or emergency power.

Where the Lion Safari ME [GOLD] Kit really shines is its battery capacity. The expansion pack included in the GOLD kit gives you a total of 2970 watt-hours of battery storage - a stunning 4.5 times more than the Patriot. It can run a full-sized refrigerator for 25+ hours (the Patriot claims it can power one for just 16.3 hours) and a CPAP for 28+ hours (compared to 13.8 for the Patriot). So, as you can see, this kit is worth the investment.

In this kit, you get the Safari ME solar generator and the expansion pack, found 100W 24V solar panels, a wall charger, extensions cables, a set of LED string lights, and a one-year warranty.

Final Words

As you can see, it's hard to justify spending the money on the Patriot Power Generator when multiple other solar generator options on the market are more powerful and more cost-effective. We highly recommend considering one of the alternative solar generators above before pulling the trigger on a Patriot Power Generator.
